Smail
is an
Algerian singer and musician born in Algeri in 1952.
He grows up and lives in his country until 1974, playing and
singing with several local bands of Algerian popular music.
In 1974 he moves to Italy where he forms several bands and
eventually the "KAS" with whom he produces Italian made
Afro music for Algerian labels.
In 1976 the band is invited to go on a Tour in Algeria.
In 1989 he becomes the singer of the Italian band "Village
Criers" and performs his songs in raggae style.
In 1990 in collaboration with the "Wudus Dub band" he
releases an L.P. for "Wide Records" from Pisa: this
work combines Oriental tunes with raggae rhythm and Algerian
lyrics. He is on stage with the "Wudus Dub Band" on
several Italian locations.
At present he is a member of the multi-ethnic band "The
Third Planet".
